Overview


Youth Leaders Program (YLP), one of SALAM’s programs, is an integrated communication leadership program to well qualify Youth leaders. The YLP aims to qualify Saudi youth resources in terms of expertise and knowledge to further participate in various international forums, hence to unify how one can best participate to represent one’s homeland and how to highlight the positive and cultural image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, showcase concerted efforts and display the depth of its influence and weight at all Arab, Muslim and international levels, in a scientific manner in accordance with the best practices and modern experiences.

Goals


To strengthen the Kingdom’s international position as a leading country in global communication and showcasing its efforts at both the regional and international levels

To develop Saudi youth to best represent the Kingdom regionally and internationally, hence to support governmental and private entities in international representation

To provide Saudi youth with objective facts about the Kingdom and its regional and international position

To further create ample opportunities for the Youth leaders to discover their dialogue-driven and leadership skills in such a manner as to contribute to developing their personalities and abilities

To empower Saudi youth to have a positive, effective and influential presence in international forums

The program addresses various areas across different sectors and issues relevant to the global image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which in turn gives an idea of the interdisciplinary issues to be brought into discussion, in addition to being a reference for issues that can be optimized in future dialogues and discussions while the program is running and beyond. Key issues include:

  • The Kingdom’s Vision 2030
  • Public policies
  • Civilizations and cultures
  • International media
  • Internationally influential organizations and figures
  • Building a mental image
  • Human rights
  • Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Regulations and laws in Saudi Arabia
  • Soft power and public diplomacy
  • The graduate obtains a certificate of completion of YLP.
  • Priority to participate in international forums for YLP graduates.
  • Gaining experience in cultural communication and international participation in accordance with the international best practices.
  • The graduate gets preference to join Salam for cultural communication.
  • The graduate qualifies to join the special advisory board for distinguished students from previous cohorts.
  • Adopting and supporting quality initiatives.

Candidacy and Admission

 
  • The applicant must be between 20 and 32 years old.
  • The applicant must be a Saudi national.
  • The applicant must be fluent in English, while fluency of additional languages is a credit.
  • The applicant shall have interest and experience in international participation (seminars, conferences, meetings, dialogues).
  • The applicant shall have the skills of leadership, dialogue and communication with others.
  • Proof of international and local contributions (digital copies), if available.

General Rules​

 
  • All Saudi youth of both genders who meet the conditions are eligible to join the program.
  • Registration must be conducted only via the portal, while direct registration shall not be accepted.
  • Submitting the digital copies of such contributions only via the portal. The program administration shall have the right to reject any submission of the contributions after the deadline.
  • The program administration shall have the right to disqualify any participant who violates program rules or national constants.
  • The program administration reserves the right to publish some of the contributions and initiatives of the participants to spread success stories, after graduation, while such rights are preserved.
  • The program laws and work mechanisms must be observed and full commitment must be displayed.

  • Why was YLP established?
  • The YLP was established to qualify Saudi youth, develop their knowledge and skills in cultural communication, empower them to have a positive presence in various international forums and highlight the cultural image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and values globally.
  • Is there a fee to apply for the program?
  • The program is free-of-charge.
  • Who is eligible to the program candidacy?
  • Saudi youth who meet the enrollment terms shall have the right to eligibility.
  • Does the participant have the right to apply again?
  • An individual participant shall have no right to apply again except for those who previously registered and could not make it.
  • How can the applicant make sure that the program administration has received the application file?
  • Upon logging in the online registration website, and all the required steps fully completed, and the required documents attached, the applicant will receive an email notifying that registration has been successful.
  • If the applicant is accepted, what should he or she do?
  • Once accepted, the applicant should visit the Salam Headquarters in Riyadh to receive the admission receipt, and sign the enrollment agreement.
  • Does those who have been admitted have the right to decline?
  • Such an applicant shall have the right to decline before the start of the program in sufficient time, but if such an applicant declined while the program is running, he or she will not be allowed to join the program for a three-year period of time.
  • When will the new YLP edition be announced?
  • The YLP edition will be announced 3 months before launch.
  • What are the most important topics covered in YLP?
  • Many topics are covered in the YLP areas in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, public policy, regulations and laws, counterterrorism and combating extremism, international relations, international reports and organizations, to mention but a few.
  • Are certificates awarded by YLP to all participants?
  • Certificates are awarded by YLP only to those who meet the all the YLP requirements and fully complete the program.
  • Who provides the training in the program?
  • The YLP trainers are a wealth of subject-matter experts and specialists in the various areas covered by the program, in addition to coaches specialized in skills and self-development.
  • How many are admitted into the program on the final list?
  • Sixty Youth men and women from Saudi Arabia.
  • How long is the program, and how many days per week does it run?
  • The program goes for 3 months and it runs three days a week.
  • What is the academic qualification required of the applicant to register in the program?
  • This goes in line with the requirements of the program described in the admission requirements.
  • How can the applicant admitted into the program have the basic materials?
  • Once finally admitted, each participant will receive the basic training materials (hard and soft copies).
  • How will the audio and video lectures be presented in the program?
  • This will be conducted in several ways, including workshops, dialogues, debates, visits, brainstorming sessions, practical applications and building projects and developing initiatives.
  • What working languages ​​is the program offered in?
  • Arabic; while still, some materials are offered in English.
  • When can I get the program certificate?
  • The participant can get the certificate after completing all the administrative and scientific requirements, including the graduation project.
  • What is the entity that awards the YLP certificate?
  • The certificate is awarded by Salam Cultural Communication.
